Coleshill Leave Rivals 3 Behind
Coleshill completed their fifth double of the season by defeating Solihull Borough to take a three point lead at the top of the table, and with games in hand over their rivals. This was an impressive display by Coleshill who have lost only one game in the last twelve and continue to play entertaining football in their push for league honours. Coleshill took the lead in the 15th minute when a long clearance from keeper Civil surprised the Solihull defence and top goal scorer Roy Ashman latched on to the ball from 40 yards out outpacing the Solihull defence and giving the advancing keeper no chance with a fierce shot from the edge of the box. Play was evenly matched between the sides and Solihull drew level with a fine goal from Williams who hit a shot from 30 yards catching keeper Civil by surprise. In the 31st minute a fine through ball from Bishop to Rosborough who outpaced the Solihull full back and crossed from the byeline for the oncoming Ashman to score his second goal of the match. Within a minute Coleshill further increased their lead when a fine move involving three players down the left flank finishing with Dyer crossing and Rosborough hitting a volley from outside the box giving keeper Lawrence no chance. Coleshill came out for the second half full of confidence and in the 55th minute they scored their fourth goal with probably the best goal seen at Solihull this season. The move started on the halfway line and involved four players playing one touch football and Steve Polack sealed the move with a cracking left foot shot from outside the box. In the 80th minute Solihull pulled a goal back when a long ball was played to the forwards from the right wing and with the Coleshill defence thinking it was going out of play it fell into the roof of the net.
