Wow, wow, wow. What a win! Today summed up why we love non-league football. A dominant win by Coleshill against a team that will definitely be knocking on the door for promotion come the end of the season.
It’s been a tough holiday period for Town with two draws and a defeat and injuries piling up but it all came good on the first day of 2019.
Joe Cole continued in the heart of Coleshill's defence, Kane Baldwin came in for the absent Craig Deakin and Jordan Nadat made his third debut for the Colemen. Coleshill were the better team in the first half and were unlucky not to be in front at the break. In the first minute Jordan Nadat found himself alone in the box with the visitors defence expecting an off side. Nadat tried to control a ball coming over his shoulder with his chest but his touch was too heavy and took him away from goal and the chance had gone. Both sides forced a series of corners that came to nothing before a cross by Liam Molesworth found Joe Smith at the far post, his downward header bouncing up and on to the bar before landing in the arms of Sporting keeper Brown. Coleshill's closing down and work rate restricted Bromsgrove who were struggling to get into the game. Guy Clark headed a Joe Smith corner over the bar and then from another Smith corner keeper Brown dropped the ball on Gio Dainty but it came at him too quickly and again a great opportunity went begging. In form Sporting striker, and former Town player Richard Gregory turned left and right to gain a yard of space but his shot was well saved by home keeper Paul Hathaway and then the Coleshill stopper was quick off his line to take a cross from Dowd. Bromsgrove's William Shorrock went down with what looked like a bad injury and had to be replaced. A sweeping move involving Joe Halsall, Connor Doyle and then Jordan Nadat saw the striker lob the ball over the keeper and when the ball came back off the bar Joe Smith followed up with a shot that Brown saved with an outstretched foot. Connor Doyle sent a bending shot just past the far post and Gio Dainty went down in the box from a Doyle cross as Coleshill finished the half well on top. On the way to the changing rooms O'Sullivan raided his hands but the referee chose to ignore the incident.
Early in the second half Paul Hathaway was out quickly to clear a back pass which fell nicely to Gregory but his attempted lob went over the bar. Jordan Nadat chased down a back pass and to poked the ball past the keeper but a defender got back to clear off the line. Nadat headed a Joe Smith corner just over the bar as Coleshill continued their good work of the first half. Nadat had a shot saved and another bending shot from Connor Doyle went just past the far post. A disappointing Jason Cowley, Sporting's hero in the same fixture last season, was replaced. In a rare attack centre back McGrath came forward and struck a left foot shot rocket shot that Hathaway got the finest touch to to send it over the bar. On 70 minutes Liam Molesworth chased a lost cause down the right, won the ball and crossed into the box. The ball reached Jordan Nadat but he was tackled by Roberts and the ball fell invitingly for Connor Doyle who made no mistake rom 10 yards. Four minutes later and it was two to Coleshill and two for Connor Doyle, this time with a great right foot strike from just outside the box into the corner of the net. Jordan Nadat sent a shot just over the bar but this was just a sighter as on 81 minutes, from the right corner of the box, his cracking left foot shot flew over the keeper into the top corner of the net. On his debut, his 35th goal for Coleshill in just 39 appearances. In the dying minutes Richard Gregory got on the end of a cross by Rankin but his weak header went wide which just about summed up Bromsgrove's day.
Just five days ago it all went wrong in a 3-0 defeat at Corby, but this team just keeps hitting back, punching above their weight and winning against the odds.

A Performance To Be Proud Of - Coleshill Town boss on Bromsgrove win
The Colemen beat title-chasing Bromsgrove Sporting 3-0
BY MATT PANTER
Coleshill Town boss Cameron Stuart hailed his squad after they produced a magnificent performance to turn over title-chasing Bromsgrove.
And their 3-0 success moved the Colemen back into play-off contention as they moved to within a point of fifth-placed Didcot Town.
Three goals in the final 20 minutes sealed a maximum points haul on New Year’s Day, Connor Doyle scoring twice and Jordan Nadat adding a third.
Manager Stuart said: “I had set a points target over Christmas and because of the way the results went, we needed to beat Bromsgrove in order to match that.
“I told the lads to be brave, take the game to them and start on the front foot.
“And the lads did that to be fair. They bossed the game from minute one and never really gave Bromsgrove a sniff.
“The only downside was that we went into half-time at 0-0 when we should have been at least 2-0 up.
“I told the lads to start the same way after the break and they did that.
“They took the game to them again and had numerous chances. Connor finally got us the breakthrough and we managed to carry it through after that.
“It was a really good performance, at least an eight out of ten display from every single player and that’s all you can ask.
“For us to produce that performance against a team who are really fancied to win the league, I am really, really pleased.”
