MATCH REPORT
Coleshill started well enough and had a few chances saved by an impressive display by home keeper Leigh Bedwell but they weren't at their best and the game never reached any great heights with the home side just about deserving the points on chances created although the only goal of the game was as scrappy as the rest of the game.
Coleshill had the first chance on just two minutes when Bedwell made a terrific save from a Stuart Hendrie's bending shot from a free kick on the edge of the box. Liam Molesworth saw a header go narrowly over the bar. In return Greg Hackett had a shot from 22 yards well saved by Town keeper Paul Hathaway and then Hathaway made an even better save from the same player. A Reece Leek cross found Nick Seabourne in the centre of the box but his header went just past the post. Liam Molesworth cut inside from the left flank and saw his bending shot saved at full stretch by Bedwell and then the Diddy stopper saved a Reece Leek shot. Luke Carnell headed a corner just over the bar as the home side started to take control.
The best chance of the game fell to Callum McNish after a fine move and cross from John Dennis but McNish, unmarked in the six yard box, sent his header over the bar. The only goal came on 53 minutes when a cross from Hackett evaded several defenders before being bundled over the line at the far post by Carnell. Coleshill couldn't get a foothold on the game as the home side pushed for a second. Hathaway saved from Dennis and the same player shot just past the far post. Coleshill did manage a couple of efforts as the final whistle approached. Reece Leek shot just past the far post, Liam Molesworth lobbed the keeper but the ball went the wrong side of the post, Reece Leek headed over the bar but it was too little too late and the Colemen returned from Oxfordshire pointless.

Carnell Goal Earns Diddy Win
Report by Stewart Unsworth
Didcot secured a vital win in their play-off push by pipping Coleshill 1-0 in a closely fought contest at the Loop Meadow on Saturday. Five points separated the teams in the league standings prior to kick-off so by extending that lead to eight with ten games to go the Railwaymen should be confident that there is one less challenger for the coveted top five birth.
Diddy suffered a blow before a ball was kicked when David Murphy suffered a knee injury in the warm up and they did not start too well in the match either; indeed a pivotal moment in the game arose inside the first three minutes. The Railwaymen conceded a free-kick on the edge of the area and Stuart Hendrie thought he had given his side the advantage with his goalbound strike only for keeper Leigh Bedwell to turn the ball aside with a stunning one handed save.
Both keepers were kept busy in a half where the action swung from one end to another. Colemen custodian Paul Hathaway twice denied Greg Hackett and after Hendrie had headed narrowly wide from a promising position, Bedwell parried another long range effort to safety. Half chances came and went for both sides before right on half time Bedwell again bailed out Diddy with a crucial block thwarting Nick Seabourne.
A pattern that has occurred in recent home games is that the Railwaymen come out firing at the start of the second half and this match was no exception. A fine cross by John Dennis deserved a better fate than Callum McNish heading over the crossbar but Coleshill were not reprieved for long. Hackett’s corner found its way through to Luke Carnell lurking on the back post and the tall central defender did the necessary by bundling both himself and the ball into the back of the net.
Dennis drew a good stop from Hathaway as the hosts looked to add a second goal but the final quarter of the match saw Coleshill have more of the ball without creating quite enough clear cut chances. Reece Leek came fairly close twice but could not find the target and Didcot were able to eke out the one goal victory.
The Railwaymen maintained their fourth position in the league table but they need to continue to churn out victories to increase their points per game average that will be used to determine promotion for the play-off winners. Struggling Aylesbury are the next visitors to the Loop Meadow on
