Coleshill chief demands a reaction after cup misery

COLESHILL Town chairman Paul Billing has demanded an improvement from his side as they head to Stratford Town on Saturday.

The Colemen crashed out of the FA Cup after a replay on Tuesday night. They slipped to a 3-2 extra time defeat at AFC Wulfrunians.

Early results in the Midland Alliance have also not been good, and Billing is looking for a significant improvement this weekend as Coleshill come up against former boss Carl Adams.

"It was a bitter blow for us from a financial point of view to lose in the FA Cup," said Billing.

"A victory would have earned us £1000 and for a club like us that's huge.

"We need to see a reaction from the players this week now because our performances and results to date have not been good enough.

"We need to be pushing on this season. I don't want another season like last year.

"We don't want a repeat of the mediocrity of last year."

The trip to Stratford to take on former boss Adams has added bite as tensions rose between the two sides this week.

Adams is trying to sign Coleshill striker Anthony Robinson in time for the weekend.

Billing, however, insists no deal will be done before the weekend.

"Stratford put in a seven day approach for Anthony and the deal will go through.

"But they want it to go through in time for him to play against us and we won't allow that to happen.

"There's a lot of former Coleshill players in the Straford squad at present so it's a game both sides will be up for.

"Hopefully we will be able to get the win under our belts because, as I say, we need to kick start our season."

Manager Jason Lanns is expected to ring the changes as his side, who host Dunkirk on Tuesday, look for an improvement.

Chris Lloyd is definitely missing through other commitments.
