THIS WEEK 2012/13 No13

25 Years ago, 1987/88

Saturday 24th October 1987
Birmingham Senior Cup 1st Round
Boldmere St Michaels 0 v 0 Coleshill Town
No report in Sunday Mercury. The replay was the following Saturday. Obviously the Senior Cup had more clout in those days to take priority over league games.
Team: Chapman, Saurminski, Cooke, Hurst, Link, Hughes, Mathews, Whipps, Paul, Christopher, Williams. Subs Hall, Hedmans.

50 Years Ago 1962/63

Saturday 27th October 1962
Birmingham Youth & Old Boys League
Coleshill Town 0-3 M.E.S.C. (Not sure what this stands for)
Coleshill Chronicle wrote:
MESC became serious challengers for the championship crown when they took away both points from Coleshill to leave the Town a well beaten side. The green & whites missed their schemer Radburn and to peg them back further leader Harry Stokes was sadly out of touch. MESC hit the first goal after just 7mins play, inside right Stevenson hooking the ball clear of the Town’s keeper. The visitors increased their lead in the 25th minute through a penalty. MESC made the game safe with a further goal netted by Stevenson 15mins from the end.

100 Years Ago 1912/13

Saturday 26th October 1912
Friendly Match Arranged
Coleshill Town 4-2 Normanfell
Coleshill Chronicle Wrote:-
Coleshill beat Normanfell on Saturday last by 4 goals to 2. The first Trent Valley League match at Coleshill will take place on Saturday afternoon. Amington Rovers are the visitors and they have a much better team than when they were here before. Coleshill beat them easily in a cup tie by 7 goals to nil.
