SPORTS ARGUS WROTE
Coleshill Town have swooped to boost an already improving goals against column by snapping up Peter Manuel. Manager Martin Sockett believes the Premier Division side are moving in the right direction as their all-new side become increasingly accustomed to each other. And, he feels the experienced former Nuneaton Borough goalkeeper Manuel will add an important presence to their defence. He will compete for a place with the Pack Meadow Club's young goalkeeper Jason Prince. Sockett said "Defensively we've tightened things up and signing Pete Manuel will help tighten things up further with his experience. It should also rub off on Jason Prince, who is only a youngster and has done extremely well so far." A further boost for Coleshill will be the recovery of one time Shrewsbury midfielder Jason Kavanagh after an ankle injury, and the imminent return of Jamie Shipway and Andy Lorimer. Shipway has been out for three weeks with ligament problems, while Lorimer has been struggling with an ankle injury. But Sockett expects both to resume training shortly and they could be back within a week. "Being a new side we have got to get to know each other and we are starting to go from strength to strength," added Sockett, appointed in the summer along with Martin Smith. "But we won't be complacent. The players are aware we are always looking at what is available and if we think they will improve the squad we will try to bring them to the club."
