SPORTS ARGUS WROTE
Coleshill Youth Target
First team manager Martin Sockett hopes Coleshill's Under 18's team will provide the final step into senior football via a youth set up that already includes three colts sides as well as a mini-soccer scheme for children five and upwards. Coleshill are currently looking to appoint a Youth team manager and then set up trials for players. They are also keen to find a team sponsor. The Premier Division side's investment in floodlights - currently being installed - will mean the new team will apply for the Midland Floodlit Youth League. But Sockett also sees the emphasis on developing home grown talent will also be a focal point for the community. "To get a good youth structure is important," said Sockett. "It's imperative to have firm foundations to build on. The youth team will become a definite stepping stone to the first team". Coleshill, 1-0 winners over Shirley Town, already boast a youthful look to their first team squad, with four players aged 21 or under.
SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Paul Sheehan grabbed the points for Coleshill Town in a hard fought 1-0 win against struggling visitors Shirley Town. The victors missed a hat-full of chances, Paul Charnley and Pat Daly both hitting the Shirley bar before Coleshill finally capitalised at pack Meadow when Loz Cairns' strike came off the keeper for Sheehan to slot in after 60 minutes.
