Strong Seeks New Players
Coleshill town are still searching for their Midland Combination Division One victory of the season as they crashed 4-0 away to Walsall Sportsco last Saturday. Three goals down at half time Coleshill were punished for some defensive mistakes and while there was some improvement in the second period, Sportsco still dictated matters and were able to increase their lead. Steve Howes skippered Coleshill and gave a determined display, but following previous defeats by Knowle, Oldbury, Paget Rangers and Mile Oak Rovers, the Pack Meadow camp have only one point, from a draw with Hurley Daw Mill, to show for their efforts after six league games. A 2-1 Challenge Cup victory over Division Two side Chelmsley the previous week, gave Coleshill some hope, but in the match with Sportsco the homesters proved formidable. Coleshill’s manager Mel Strong said this week: "I did think that our supporters would have to be patient as we built up a brand new team, but the honeymoon is now over and we have got to get results.” The Coleshill boss is hoping that his latest signing, 18 year old Craig Povey will bring stability to the defence and he is also having discussions with two midfield players. Taking advantage of not having a game this Saturday Mel Strong is seeking other players and hopes to have his team strengthened for the game against Moor Green on Saturday week.
