F.A. Vase - 3rd Round

Postby Alan Beckett » Tue Nov 19, 2013 2:17 pm

ANOTHER AWAY DAY IN VASE

Coleshill Town have been drawn away to Holwell Sports in the third round of the FA Vase on Saturday 7th December.

Holwell Sports are in the East Midlands Counties League (Level 6) and while Town were battling against Long Eaton, Holwell beat fellow Midland Alliance side Rocester, AET, on Saturday last to reach the 3rd Round. They also beat Quorn in the 1st Qualifying round this season.

We have played Sports before, also in the FA Vase, back in 1991 when after a 1-1 draw at Pack Meadow, Holwell went through to the next round winning by 3-2.

The East Midlands Counties League only started in 2008/09 and was made up of 9 teams from the Central Midlands League, 8 from the Leicestershire Senior League and 2 from the Northern Counties League. It is now an official feeder league into the Midland Alliance.

Holwell moved from the Leicester Senior League to the EMC league (Level 6) the same year, 2008, as Coleshill were promoted to the Midland Alliance (Level 5). Since then they have finished 7th, 13th, 13th, 11th and 5th. Compare that with Coleshill's 11th, 8th, 12th, 17th and 15th.

This season the two sides currently have a record of:

Holwell S P13 W6 D1 L6 F35 A27 Pts19 Pos10/19
Coleshill P15 W6 D5 L4 F32 A18 Pts23 Pos7/22

Holwell have never made it to the 3rd round of the Vase before and Coleshill have only ever been there once before.

Interesting! A very winnable game but I'm sure Holwell Sports will be thinking exactly the same! Good Luck Coleshill!
