STRIKER Shane Benjamin believes that Coleshill Town can still make a push for promotion if they keep up their current form.

Only the champions will gain promotion in the Midland League Premier Division and the Colemen sit 11 points behind leaders Long Eaton United in fifth place.

But, having won their last three games convincingly, scoring 13 and conceding none in the process, leading scorer Benjamin says his side have a chance if they can maintain their recent form.

He said: "Hopefully, if we can keep this run going anything can happen.

"It cuts the lead down if we win the games in hand. I'd like to think we can go to the end of the season without dropping any points but that's probably wishful thinking."

From a personal point of view, Benjamin has had a storming season with 26 goals to his name in the league already.

He netted a brace as Coleshill thumped fellow high-fliers Boldmere St Michaels 5-0 on Friday night, and he freely admits he is loving life at Pack Meadow.

Benjamin said: "It was nice because we did the double over them.

"It's nice to do that against your local rivals.

"It's going really well, the gaffer (Paul Casey) has put a great team together and hopefully we can catch the team at the top."

Casey's men are the second highest scorers in the division, with Simeon Cobourne adding 17 to the total, and Rickie Cutting also scoring in the five-goal rout on his full debut.

Benjamin said: "Rickie has shown signs of making a great partnership and I really enjoy playing with him.

"He's not played for a good few weeks so to score a goal on his full debut is good for confidence."

The Colemen host fourth-placed Kirkby Muxloe on Saturday, kick off 3pm.
