SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
GOAL-DEN HOGAN AT THE DOUBLE
Second placed Wellesbourne survived some wretched weather to close the gap on Skol Midland Combination Premier leaders Northfield Town after beating Coleshill Town 4-1 at a rain-soaked Loxley Road. Wellesbourne spokesman Raymond Burns claimed " The ref made a really brave decision to play the game but he was proved right as the pitch held up marvellously." Anthony Hogan fired Wellesbourne into a 30th min lead but Jason Phillips brought Coleshill back on level terms before half time when Wellesbourne keeper Neil Massey fumbled his cross shot. Harjit Dhesi put Wellesbourne back in front 5mins into the second half when he shocked Coleshill by netting direct from a corner. Anthony Hogan smashed in his second goal after 75mins before Ian Billington wrapped up the points with a 4th goal in the dying seconds.
