Midland Combination Premier Division
Coleshill Town 0 v 5 Barnt Green Spartak
Coleshill were without Simon Bradbury, Alan Wright, Jamie Shipway, Shaun Kidson, David Brush, Michael Campbell, Des Wilkes, Linzell Taylor and Joel Mardenborough for various different reasons and so Manager Mick Beadle had to shuffle his squad around. Ryan Gardner made his debut following a transfer from Boldmere, Carl Smith made his long awaited comeback from injury and Simon Quigley, Lee Dempster and Brendon Shilton stepped up from the reserves to complete the bench.
Coleshill looked lively in the first half and made the Chelsea of the Mid Com work really hard for any reward. Ryan Gardner could have been an instant hit but he headed wide when well placed. Dan Greaves's pace up front was causing the visitors defence problems and Coleshill's five man midfield enjoyed some good possession but the final ball was missing and the Spartak keeper had a quiet afternoon. Barnt Green slowly came more into the game and Miles Millington-Day made a couple of important saves as the half drew to a close.
Spartak changed tactics in the second half and by-passed the crowded midfield and Coleshill struggled to come to terms with their power play. Kevin Brookes opened the scoring on 55 minutes but it was a stunning hat-trick from Lewis Baker that killed off Coleshill's challenge. By the time Jae Martin made it five, Coleshill were a shadow of the first half team and looked disjointed and disheartened.
Mick Beadle has a free mid week to get some of his star players back playing in time for the visit of Nuneaton Griff on Saturday.
Team;- Miles Millington-Day, Sam Chatwin, Sean Burrell, Ryan Gardner (Simon Quigley), James Dance, Rob Ellis, Carl Smith, Kevin Wagstaff (Brendon Shilton), Myrone Levy Lee Dempster), Dan Greaves, Mitchell Thompson.
