SATURDAY 12th APRIL
MIDLAND COMBINATION PREMIER DIVISION
COLESHILL TOWN 0 v 4 RUGBY TOWN
After flattering to deceive in the opening minutes, Coleshill finished a well-beaten side to an impressive Rugby Town who, although they look to be out of the title race, still look a class act.
Both sides went for it from the off with chances appearing at either end. Christian Crisp had a downward header cleared off the line, Mitchell Thompson unfortunately stumbled on the ball when well placed and Lee McCarthy just saw his lob go over the bar from outside the box. But it all went wrong for the home team in a fifteen-minute spell before the break. The defence went walk about from a harmless looking throw to leave Martin Thompson with a tap in. Jimmy Simpson increased the lead with a powerful header and the game was effectively over as a contest when Dave Aston added the third.
Rugby took their foot off the gas in the second half as allowing Coleshill more possession, but the home team were unable to capitalise and never put the keeper under any great pressure. Coleshill’s misery was complete when Lee O’Brien miscontrolled a long clearance allowing Lee Lavery to beat home keeper Danny Moseley in a one on one.
Team;- Danny Moseley, Lee O’Brien, Allan Thomas, Simon Bradbury, Adam Whyte (Lee Dempster), Carl Smith, Matty Devine (Carl Meah), Lee McCarthy, Christian Crisp, Neil Anderson (Chris Gray), Mitchell Thompson.
M.O.M. Carl Smith.
