Saturday 17th September 1988
Midland Combination
Coleshill Town 2 v 2 Highgate United
Scorers: Neil Brady, Steve D’Arcy.
Sunday Mercury Wrote:
An equaliser five minutes from time by Louis Belcoure gave Highgate a share of the points after an exciting, four goal second half. Highgate almost took the lead after 20mins when Peter Frain shot narrowly wide from 15 yards after a surging pass from Greg Thomas and then ray Howell headed narrowly over the Coleshill bar following an Ian Cockerill centre. Coleshill twice went close just before the break when Steve D'Arcy shot wide following a cross from John Hall and then Billy Cooke made a save at the foot of the post from a 25 yard shot from Greg Bennett. Highgate went in front after 48 minutes when Howell shot against the post and Thomas snapped up the rebound from 10 yards. On the hour Coleshill equalised when Neil Brady netted following a goalmouth scramble and 10 minutes later they took the lead when Herman Wilson found D'Arcy who netted from 12 yards. Highgate scored their late equaliser when Belcoure found space to beat the advancing keeper from six yards.
