Coleshill prepare to face the leaders before Lambs clash
Writes the Coleshill Herald
COLESHILL Town hope to cause a big upset as they play host to Conference Premier side Tamworth at Packmeadow on Tuesday night.
The sides go head-to-head in the Birmingham Senior Cup and Coleshill boss Paul Casey is relishing the test.
"It's a tough draw for us but we are looking forward to it," he said. "Dale Belford has got a quality side at Tamworth.
"Dale's a good manager, someone with vast experience in the game, and anyone playing for him will be of a good quality.
"He doesn't have a reserve or academy side at Tamworth now so it will be a strong side we will be up against.
"Hopefully we can give a good account of ourselves on the night."
The midweek cup clash will be the second of a massive three games for Coleshill.
They travel to league leaders Highgate United in the Midland Alliance on Saturday and the following weekend (October 19) they play host to Racing Club Warwick in the FA Vase.
But Casey's men go into a testing seven days in fine spirits after a 4-1 win at Shepshed on Saturday, a result which has put them seventh in the Midland Alliance.
"Things are going well," Casey said. "We have only lost four games all season and, in two of those, against Boldmere and Highgate, their keeper was the man of the match.
"The great thing is that we are seeing progress too. When I took over at a similar time last season, we had just three points.
"This season we already have 18 points and are seventh.
"We are improving all the time and that augurs well for the rest of the season.
"On the pitch, we have played some good stuff and are making ourselves difficult to beat.
"Off the pitch, we have a good dressing room here – a great bunch of lads. There's no sulking, everyone is playing for me and for the club.
"Hopefully that can continue for the rest of the season.
"At the beginning of the campaign I thought if we could get top eight that would be amazing.
"We have started well enough to suggest that we can achieve that. We just need to keep working hard and keep up the intensity that we have shown so far."
Coleshill secured a 4-1 win over Shepshed Dynamo on Saturday thanks to goals from Chris Gumery, Chris Lloyd (2) and Matt Brown.
