Coleshill Town 0 v 0 Walsall Wood
Team: Paul Hathaway, Leon Weller, Ashley Bradshaw, Jack Hullin, Luke Edwards, Barry Fitzharris, Matt Brown, Danny Tymon, Chris Gumery (Ryan Nash), Dean Rathbone, Daniel Holgate (Chris Lloyd). Subs not used Danny Douglas, Oliver Casey, Jake Murrall, Nick Ellis.
Not the best game ever, but another point, a clean sheet, still in 7th place and undefeated in eight games! A sound base to go into a very difficult run of games coming up with Boldmere in the League Cup, Tamworth in the Senior Cup, Long Eaton in the Vase and Causeway and Tividale in the league. Player for player, in my opinion, Coleshill have the better squad but Walsall Wood played to their strengths and played as a team and would have won this game if they had someone to finish off some fine approach play. The swirling wind and sometimes torrential rain didn't help but Coleshill will need to put this performance behind them and move on!
Neither keeper was particularly busy in the first half with chances at a premium but it was the Coleshill goal that was most at risk, or a better description would be the trees behind the Town goal were more at risk, such was the direction of the visitors shooting! Wood had a shout for hand ball when a shot hit Danny Tymon and they had the ball in the net with an assist from a Walsall hand! The referee was prepared to give it but luckily the linesman had spotted the infringement.
The pattern of play continued in the second half, Leon Weller thundered a free kick into the wall, Chris Lloyd did well to make space for himself but then sent his effort way over the bar but it was Walsall Wood who looked the more likely to score. Substitute Smith hit the bar from a header with his first touch, Town keeper Paul Hathaway made a great save from Boyce and in the dying seconds Boyce again headed wide from a great position. Manager Paul Casey has got to be happy with the point and clean sheet if not the overall performance!
