BIRMINGHAM EVENING MAIL WROTE:
BRUM IN SHOCK KO
Birmingham City’s misery continued when they were ousted from the Birmingham Senior Cup by middle of the table Midland Combination side Coleshill Town at St Andrews. The match last night was decided on penalties after the game ended 1-1. Coleshill won 3-2. Birmingham trailed to a Tate goal in the first half but Colin Robinson equalised to take the game into extra-time.

SPORTS ARGUS WROTE
CUP OF CHEER FOR COLESHILL
Coleshill Town have given their very best against the aristocrats of the Football League this season – yet still find themselves in the bottom three of the Midland Combination’s Premier Division. Town astonished everyone when they beat Blues in a Birmingham Senior Cup replay at St Andrews. Birmingham were fielding an incredible ten men with first team experience but could not defeat Town who sealed victory in a penalty shoot-out after a 1-1 draw. And today the team, which had to be completely re-built last summer, was taking on Wolves at Molineux – in front of an expected 5,000 crowd. Few of Ronnie Mason’s team had played against professional opponents before they drew 0-0 in their first meeting with Blues at Coleshill. But Chairman Harry Davies said: “We matched them man for man and certainly showed more effort.” The BSC has been a welcome relief in a traumatic season for Coleshill. When Davies and his wife Sheila, who is secretary of the club, returned from holiday in the summer, he found manager Keith Shrimpton had departed to Paget and taken virtually the whole team. He took on Ronnie Mason from Knowle and as he tried to re-build Coleshill, the team took a frightful hammering in their first few matches. Now Mason has got the side in order and despite their lowly status they still have high ambitions and do not even consider relegation a possibility. Davies said: “I think Ronnie has done a grand job and there is definitely great enthusiasm running through the club. I am absolutely sure we will not be relegated.” Off the pitch, Coleshill secured a tremendous £12000 sponsorship from Walker Homes and now hope to improve their Pack Meadow ground. They have also attracted a Sunday side Dragon Strollers to the ground which means more cash flowing in. Davies admitted the club had gone through lean years but emphasised it was financially secure and said he now believed it could go from strength to strength. “Ronnie Mason assures me we will be in the middle of the table by the end of the season – and who knows what will happen from there.”
