Coleshill prepare for a key spell as big tests lie in wait
Writes the Coleshill Herald
COLESHILL Town boss Paul Casey says his side are full of confidence as they prepare for a testing Christmas in the Midland Alliance.
Casey's side claimed their fifth win in a row as they cruised to an emphatic 4-0 victory over Kirby Muxloe on Tuesday night.
A hat-trick from Jaz Luckie and one from Declan Kirby sealed the win which puts Coleshill fifth in the table.
Next up is a trip to second-placed Tividale on Saturday while Coleshill also face Coventry Sphinx (sixth), Quorn (fourth) and Boldmere (third) in their next four games.
"It's a massive Christmas for us and if we can come out of that unbeaten I will be very happy," said Casey. "It's a chance for us to prove how good we are.
"This is our chance to show our credentials as a top five team at this level. The run starts against the title favourites Tividale and they are a good side.
"They have games in hand on sides at the top so are probably favourites.
"But I can't wait to go up against them and try to match them. Hopefully we can come away from there with something.
"We have the players here who are capable of doing so."
Casey says his side's recent run is testament to all of the players at his disposal and not just one or two.
He said: "The team spirit that we have here at Coleshill is fantastic – it is the best I have been involved with in that respect.
"That team spirit is what is helping us to win games right now. There are no stand-out players here, no superstars.
"They are all very good players, hard grafters and support each other on and off the pitch. "They are a great bunch, playing with pace, power and skill and they are starting to believe in themselves."
Coleshill are likely to be without defender Danny Douglas this weekend while hat-trick hero Luckie is also a doubt.
"Jaz was great on Tuesday night but he took some blows and hobbled off at the end," said Casey. "So we will see how he is. The good thing, though, is that we have a great squad here.
"We have been rotating the squad for the last few games and all the lads here are proving themselves to be important players for Coleshill."
