CASTLE BROMWICH NEWS WROTE
TOWN OUT OF LEAGUE CUP

Coleshill Town were hustled out of the Midland Combination Challenge Cup at Cinderford last Saturday despite taking an early lead. It was a super start for Coleshill when Peter Dawkins, leading the attack in the absence of the injured Paul Montague, laid on a fine pass for Snowy Upton to accept the easiest of chances. Alas, it was the only time that Hook in the Cinderford goal was seriously troubled. After the early shock, Cinderford began to apply pressure and it became the turn of Coleshill's keeper Wright to show his ability, but unfortunately he was to blame for Cinderford's 35th minute equaliser. Wright failed to hold a cross from Smith and Gibbons was on the mark to prod the ball into an empty net. Coleshill's game was devoid of pattern and penatration, although Tom Hardie and John Allen worked tirelessly to stem the almost constant home attack. The gap between Coleshill's back seven and the front three grew larger and it was no surprise when in the 66th minute Hatton put Cinderford in front. Coleshill's defence, eight men in the penalty area, were caught flat footed from a cross from the right and Hatton's winner went in unchallenged. Left back Brendon Casey was substituted after 75 minutes for Moseley, a front runner. It made for a welcome shifting of tactics, but for all their new found territorial dominance Coleshill never looked like levelling matters. Burrows, McGreavey, Allen and Hardie all had fine games for Coleshill, while Dawkins did well in an unaccustomed position, but never had the support or service that might have paid better dividends. Naturally disappointed at the result Coleshill's manager David Kite said "We don't seem to have the discipline to maintain the initiative. The early goal we scored should have lifted the team, but instead we allowed Cinderford to take control." Mr Kite is hoping to sign another forward in time for this Saturday's game, at home to Evesham United, who are managed by John Adams. Both David Kite and John Adams are close friends, having both coached in America. The Coleshill team will be selected from the following: Wright, McGreavy, Hartry, Casey, Hardie, Allen, Burrows, Montague N, Dawkins, Upton, Montague P, Komoroski, Conway, Sarson, Moseley. Behind the scenes at Pack Meadow, manager Kite is having discussions with the clubs committee with a view to forming a second team for next season, which will play in the Third Division of the Midland Combination.
