Coleshill enjoyed most of the play in their Midland Combination game against Boldmere St Michaels but never really looked like scoring. The visitors, with fewer chances, had in form marksman Bray on hand to soak up the chances. He Scored from a penalty after 10 minutes and then completed his hat-trick with goals in the 59th and 77th minutes.

Coleshill Crushed By Leaders

Things went drastically wrong for Coleshill against Boldmere on Saturday with the visitors and league leaders romping home 3-0. Coleshill boss David Kite blamed the defeat on defensive slackness: “All three goals came as a direct result of mistakes at the back,” said Kite. Coleshill were missing four regulars with injuries and needed to draft in youngsters to take their places. And Kite was delighted with the determination showed by the young recruits. “I gave 16 year old Russell Gordon a run for 90 minutes in midfield and he played really well,” said Kite. Two more lads who did well for us on Saturday were centre half Chris Davies and right back Martin McGreevey,” said the boss. Davies, an 18 year old signed from Sutton Town, turned in a cool display under pressure. Meanwhile Kite is set to sign defender Mick Burrows from Coventry Colliery. The defender is the brother of Coleshill centre half Harry Burrows and may join the club in time to play at Northfield this Saturday.

Coleshill took a pasting at home to Combination leaders Boldmere who won with a Harry Bray hat-trick. And the defeat could have been heavier – Bray had another goal disallowed, had a shot kicked off the line, and winger Hamilton hit the post. Yet Coleshill started brightly putting pressure on the Boldmere defence who were well bolstered by full back Bates. A 20 yard volley from Russell almost brought Coleshill the lead but Howlins went full stretch to save. But Boldmere scored after 10 minutes when Hamilton, back from Worcester City, was fouled. He took the free kick to Mathews who was bundled over and Bray scored from the penalty. In the second half Boldmere were more positive and tormented Coleshill on the wings through Hamilton and Carter. After 55 minutes Bray scored his second goal when he headed in Hamilton’s cross. Two minutes later Hewitt crossed for Bray to slot in again but this time the goal was disallowed. With Coleshill running out of steam Bray scored an easy third goal with 15 minutes left when he turned in Hamilton’s cross.
