Coleshill Town will be refreshed for key period
Writes the Coleshill Herald
COLESHILL Town boss Paul Casey says an enforced break may have done his players a world of good.
Coleshill's clash at Continental Star was called off on Saturday before their home fixture with Rocester also bit the dust.
The squad now embark on a crucial period with a home game against Causeway on Saturday and a trip to Alvechurch on Tuesday night.
Then comes a 'week from hell' as Casey puts it, starting with a trip to league leaders Basford on January 31.
The Colemen also face second place Long Eaton the following week, with a clash with Rushall in the quarter finals of the Birmingham Senior Cup sandwiched in between.
"It's been a frustrating 10 days in some ways, with the games off but, at the same time, we have been mindful of the fact that we have some big games coming up," said Casey.
"So with that in mind, it may have done us good to have had a rest.
"We are fresh now with some cracking games to come.
"It's going to be a hectic run-in," he added. "I think we have something like 21 games left in 14 weeks and that's without any other postponements and not including any further progress in the cups.
"So we are going to need a big squad and we are going to have to rotate the players we have.
"But I am happy with the numbers here. We have 18 in the first-team and we have a strong reserve squad to call upon as well.
"So I am looking forward to the run-in. It promises to be an exciting time."
Coleshill chairman Paul Billing, meanwhile, says it would be fantastic for the club to win some silverware this season.
Coleshill remain in the Birmingham Senior and League Cup and Billing said: "I think it would be nice for Paul (Casey) to win something in recognition of the really good work that he's doing.
"It's been another good season. It's taken a little time to gel but the lads are looking good and playing well as we prepare for the run-in," Billing added.
