SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Two second half goals gave Coleshill Town maximum points against a Walsall Wood side that was sadly out of touch. Eight minutes into the second half the visitors took the lead when Trevor Burroughs took advantage of a hesitant Wood defence to hammer home. Five minutes from time Phil Bailey found the net with a low right footed shot.
SPORTS ARGUS WROTE
With a strong breeze at their backs it was the visitors that created the first chance of the game. Following a Teeling free-kick, the ball found it's way to Bailey but his first time effort was deflected for a corner. From the corner, taken by Hopkins, the keeper punched the ball away at the expense of another corner. A fine move involving Clarke and Sylvester sent Haywood clear down the right and when his low cross found Ayres, the Wood striker's shot on the turn was saved at the foot of the post by Hart. In the 30th minute it was a last-ditch tackle by Morgan to deny the Coleshill striker Coleman a chance, and moments later another timely tackle by Koper thwarted the same player. Shortly before half time a through ball by Sylvester gave Ayres a chance, but he was unable to bring the ball under control.
Half Time: Walsall Wood 0 v 0 Coleshill.
