Coleshill Town 2 v 3 Bolehall Swifts

Postby Alan Beckett » Thu Feb 13, 2003 2:58 pm

SATURDAY 8th FEBRUARY
MIDLAND COMBINATION PREMIER DIVISION

COLESHILL TOWN 2 v 3 BOLEHALL SWIFTS

Scorers: Christian Crisp, Steve Fulford.

Bolehall completed the double over Coleshill this season with this win at Pack Meadow but Swifts had to work hard and come from behind twice to secure the victory. Seventeen year old David Rimmer made his debut in the Town goal, the third different keeper in consecutive games, as normal 1st choice stopper Danny Smith was the only keeper at the club eligible to play for the reserves in their Challenge Urn semi final.

Coleshill took the lead as early as the third minute as Christian Crisp latched on to a loose ball in midfield. His speculative lob found the Swifts keeper well of his line and sailed into the net. The 1st 45 minutes were definitely Coleshill’s best period of the game and although chances were rare they just edged possession and supremacy. Swifts were given a life line when a mix up between David Rimmer and Matty Devine, saw the later head into his own net when there appeared to be little danger. Coleshill restored their lead before the break when Steve Fulford hit a sweet shot from the edge of the box following one of the best moves of the game.

Swifts changed formation in the second half pushing more men forward with Coleshill in turn being pegged back. In open play Town seemed capable of hanging onto the lead and three valuable points but they were undone by slack marking at two set pieces. On 67 minutes Swifts levelled with a header from a corner, the scorer unchallenged and with time running out a diving header from yet another corner clinched the win for the delighted visitors.

Coleshill are now without a win in seven but in that run have produced some good football in patches. A good first 45 minutes here and a good second 45 there has been followed by lack of concentration at vital times in games, which has proved costly. As the games come thick and fast Manager Tony Gormley is seeking constancy from his paper thin squad.

Team. David Rimmer, Frank Woodburn, Steve Lees, Simon Bradbury, Carl Smith, Christian Crisp, Matty Devine (Lee O’Brien), Stuart Howard, Lee McCarthy, Steve Fulford, Mitchell Thompson. Subs not used- Gary Falconbridge, Tony Gormley.

M.O.M. Christian Crisp.
