CASTLE BROMWICH NEWS WROTE
Point Dropped In Drab Encounter

Coleshill dropped a home point to fellow strugglers Cadbury Heath in a lethargic game at Pack Meadow and the only cheer was the promising debut of youth team full-back Micky Adams, who took the place of the suspended Eddie Hanlon. Barrie Canning was missing from Coleshill's line up, on duty with the Birmingham F.A. and Johnny Allcock, although giving 100% effort, was obviously troubled by a leg injury. Malcolm Phelps was prominant in early Coleshill attacks and Holder shot wide after a good build up between Brayley and Allcock, but following this opening flourish the proceedings developed into a midfield slog. Cadbury, who arrived 20 minutes late, were seemingly content to defend and the nearest Coleshill came to scoring was when visiting keeper Parsons handled the ball outside his area and from Holder's free kick, the ball rebounded from the wall to Malcolm Phelps who shot wide. Both teams showed a little more enthusiasm at the start of the second half, with Roy Phelps seeing a header shave the crossbar and a fierce shot from Cadbury's Ashley was well saved by King. It was King again, who brilliantly tipped a shot from Hall over the bar, but Coleshill hit back through Brayley who hit a perfect pass to the limping Allcock, whose shot was only inches too high. In the 58th minute, however, Cadbury took a shock lead when Fear ran on to a pass from Baker to score from close range. Holder was replaced by MacDonald as Coleshill struggled to get back on level terms. Allcock again shot just wide after good work by Adams and Nabbs and in the 78th minute Roy Phelps shot across goal for his brother Malcolm to head home and salvage a share of the spoils. A special charity match between Birmingham Press XI and West Bromwich All-Stars will take place at Pack Meadow on Sunday February 27th. Among the celebrities who will be playing will be TV star Jasper Carrott.
This Saturday Coleshill Town visit Highgate United.
