Coleshill Eligible For F.A.Cup
Coleshill Town Football Club, who openly admit their target is Southern League status, have been given senior status and are now eligible to enter the F.A.Cup. After an improved season, in which Coleshill are likely to finish about 12th in the Midland Combination's First Division, the Pack Meadow club has been rewarded for three years of hard work. And the fact that their newly acquired senior status will attract better class players can only do Coleshill the power of good. Club officials told the Herald three years ago that their ultimate aim was to play along-side Tamworth in the Southern League. A somewhat hopeful target, so many thought. But ground improvements and the acceptance of Coleshill by the Midland Combination from the second division into their top flight last season has only enhanced their bid for top grade football at Pack Meadow. Coleshill will also be eligible for the much maligned Birmingham Senior Cup, which sees Tamworth, Atherstone and other top Southern League Midland sides all competing. In spite of the fact that Coleshill's application to run a reserve side in the Midland Combination's second division was turned down, officials are confident that quality players will be attracted to Pack Meadow, especially now that the Town can offer them F.A.Cup football.
