COLESHILL HERALD WROTE
The FA Cup Dream Goes On For Casey's Coleshill Heroes

Coleshill produced a sensational performance to shock Newcastle Town and bag a home tie against Stamford in the next round of the FA Cup. Paul Casey's cup kings opened the scoring on ten minutes through Demetrius Smikle before Evo-Stick side Newcastle levelled with a close range finish from Tim Sanders. Reece Leek restored the Coleshill advantage a minute before the break and Simeon Cobourne sealed a famous win in the second half.

"It was a fantastic result for us," said boss Casey. "We thoroughly deserved the win and in truth, I think the score flattered them in the end. We could have won the game by more. If it had been six or seven, then I think it would have been fair. We got stronger and stronger in the second half and it was just a great performance from the lads."

By Steve Sharman:

Newcastle Town's FA Cup adventure is over for another season after being beaten 3-1 by Midland League side Coleshill Town.

Goals in the first half from Demetrius Smikle and Reece Leek gave the visitors a half time lead with Tim Sanders also finding the net for Castle.

However a breakaway goal from Simeon Colbourne midway through the second period meant it was the away side who progressed in the competition.

It was Coleshill who took an early lead as Smikle found time and space outside the Castle area and was able to bend the ball into the far corner leaving Danny Read with no chance.

The lead didn't last long as six minutes later Tim Sanders fired home from close range after Cohen Bramall's low cross had found the feet of the midfielder.

Castle then went close to adding a second as Dominic Smith toe poked over the crossbar from the edge of the box after more good work down the left from Bramall and Port Vale loanee Omar Haughton.

But despite going level, Castle soon found themselves second best in the game as Read did well to tip Smikle's effort over the bar, before Leek skewed his shot wide of the post after cutting in from the right.

Leek then made no mistake on the stroke of half time as his low deflected effort found the far corner after a scramble inside the Castle box saw the ball fall to the former Sutton Coldfield man's feet.

The second half began as the first had finished with Coleshill enjoying plenty of the ball inside the Castle half.

Read was once again on hand to palm behind Smikle's low shot from distance with a third goal for the visitors looking more and more likely.

That third goal did arrive on 55 minutes as a ball through the middle of the Castle defence found substitute Simeon Colbourne who slid the ball under the advancing Read and into the net.

With Castle looking to find a way back into the game Read was required to deny Coleshill a fourth as he saved well with his legs from Colbourne's shot before seeing Luke Barlone head wide when unmarked inside the six yard box.

Smith then had Castle's best chance of the second half but fired high and wide after good work between Neville Thompson and Sanders.

Defeat means Castle's campaign in the FA Cup is over with Ivan Lodge's side looking to get back to winning ways in the league this Saturday at home to Carlton Town.

NEWCASTLE TOWN: Read, Askey, Bramall, Carter, Stubbs (Nicholls), Smith, Lowe, Sanders, Bateman, Haughton (Thompson), Lennon.
Subs not used: Ritchie, Standbridge, Cole.

COLESHILL TOWN: Hathaway, Weller, Worthington, Evans, Edwards, Rathbone, Leek, Dainty, Barlone, Johnson, Smikle. Subs: Colbourne, Cotter, Hughes, Cutting, Nash, Cowley.
