REPORT
By Craig Hamilton
Coleshill came up against Alvechurch who had just beaten high flying Westfields and the first real attack came from the home side as a long ball into the box saw Town keeper Paul Hathaway come out to smother the ball at the strikers feet, the striker fell over under the challenge and the referee at first indicates play on then changes his mind and points for a penalty. Up stepped Josh March on 7 minutes to convert just under the body of the diving Hathaway. This set the tone of the game for the referee with a poor performance that seemed to favour the home side on most decisions, booking Coleshill players but not even speaking to Alvechurch players for the same kind of challenge. Coleshill had a chance when Dean Rathbone played the ball to Jordan Nadat who found Gio Dainty free on the left, He cut inside but saw his shot well saved. Then Demitrius Smikle had the keeper scrambling down at his near post to fumble the shot wide for a corner. Alvechurch were becoming more dominate in the game and Coleshill couldn't seem to get into the game, however after several chance by Alvechurch Coleshill had a near miss when a Josh Quaynor corner swung in from the right was cleared off the line. Alvechurch were much the better side for most of the first half but it ends 1-0.
Coleshill had to up their game in the second half if they wanted to get anything out of the game and it only took 2 minutes of the second half for a good cross by Josh Quaynor to bounce free to Gavin Hurran but again the keeper made a good save. Alvechurch started to retake control and good work down their left saw a cross headed against the post. Gavin Hurran for Coleshill was then injured in an attempt on goal and was replaced by Rob Evans. Unfortunately he did not have time to get into position properly before on 56 minutes an Alvechurch throw in was played through for an easy chance for March who volleyed past Hathaway for 2-0.
Overall Coleshill did not play to their usual standard either individually or collectively and on this performance were beaten by the better side on the day.

Church rise to Top
Church went top of the league, albeit having played 6 games more than Westfields and more than other teams that theoretically could go above us if they win their games in hand. But points in the bag are important and Church came through a very testing week beating Coleshill on top of Westfields and Loughborough University to remain unbeaten in their last seven, taking 19 out of a possible 21.
It was that man Josh March again, first winning a penalty in the 7', when his pace got him there before being fouled by keeper Hathaway. After missing his last spot kick v Westfields on Tuesday night, he opted to go straight down the middle and scored to make it 1-0. He scored his and Church second after 56', a minute after Bellis had headed the ball against the post. This time Dubidat supplied the cross and March the finish to make it 2-0.
Frustrated and well beaten, Coleshill lost their discipline big time in the last 10 minutes. First Weale joined Rathbone in the book, then ex Church striker Jordan Nadat saw red after a late challenge on March which saw the Church man carried off. Craig Milligan was then lucky to receive only a yellow for a dangerous lunge at Dubidat, then after receiving a needless booking for handball in injury time, Luke Shorthouse was dismissed after the final whistle for dissent.
Final Score: Alvechurch 2 Coleshill Town 0
