Coleshill Held To A Replay

Coleshill, struggling for points in the Midland Combination, now face another journey to Evesham in the Challenge Cup. After taking a first minute lead the Pack Meadow side was held to a replay by their bottom of the table opponents. Coleshill's flying start was given to them by Rick Allen, who superbly headed in a corner from Mark Browning. It was Browning, Martin Colder and Paul Hevringham who were impressive in midfield, as Coleshill continued on the offensive. Unfortunately, final passes went astray and play developed into a scrappy affair with Evesham being let off the hook. Home keeper Tony (Terry) Sammons, made a number of smart saves as the visitors enjoyed a more attacking role in the second half, but with Coleshill's defence failing to clear the ball, Evesham drew level. Scoring chances came the way of both teams in the closing stages, with Evesham clearly happy to get another bite at the cherry. Coleshill's manager Mel Strong is boosting the club's support for the visit to Bridgnorth this Saturday. A teacher at Mirfield School, he is inviting a party of 20 boys to travel on the team coach and cheer Coleshill on as they bid for vital league points.
