The signing of Steve Slaughter by Chipping Norton is still paying dividends, his move from Banbury has seen him hit the goal trail and he added two more against Coleshill.

Coleshill Fight For Survival

Three games in six days and relegation threatened Coleshill managed just one point (they won one so it must have been 2 points) but manager Mel Strong, although admitting that the position is serious, will still not concede that his bottom placed team will drop into the Midland Combination Second Division. "We have plenty of games to play and if the players respond as I know they can, then we can still escape," said the Coleshill boss, but he does admit that the position is becoming extremely desperate. A win at Walsall Wood was a tonic for Coleshill who then took on Chipping Norton last Saturday. Playing 4-3-2 formation (One short there) in the first period Coleshill enjoyed even exchanges and were unlucky to fall behind to a goal seconds before the interval. Strong appeals for a penalty were waved aside when Martin Colder looked to be upended and Coleshill's best chance of equalising was lost. The visitors sealed the issue seven minutes from time, a lapse by central defender Shaun Tymon leaving a Norton forward clear to place the ball wide of keeper Tony Sammons. In the three games Sammons excelled with safe handling and smart anticipation. This Saurday Coleshill are away to Racing Club Warwick and next Thursday receive Highgate United.
