Saturday 5th March 1983
Midland Combination Division One
Cinderford Town 1 v 0 Coleshill Town

P27 W10 D5 L12 F32 A38 Pts25 Pos12/20

Bridgnorth Top.

Team: Barry Canning, Steve Polack, Bob Dyer. Confirmed.

SPORTS ARGUS WROTE
Tony Hanson and Mick Calvert have recently signed for Knowle and possibly leaving Knowle in the near future is Roy Nicholas. He is on the wanted list of Coleshill Town boss Colin Holder. Holder who has lost the services of ex-Villa striker Lee Jenkins into Finnish football, has recently snapped up Kevin Tipton from Walsall Borough and goalkeeper Mark Civil from Darleston. Now he has turned his attentions to Nicholas with a seven day notice of approach.

SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
The deadlock was finally broken after 62 minutes when a corner from Cinderford substitute Eddie Fleghery found John Stewart. His shot was blocked on the line but Trevor Foxwell was lurking to stab the ball home. It was an unfortunate blow for Coleshill, who during that second half had looked dangerous through the attacking exploits of Barry Canning and Steve Polack. Coleshill might have pulled level with virtually the final kick of the match, when Cinderford goalkeeper Russell Bowles flung himself full length to save from Bob Dyer.

COLESHILL TOWN PROGRAMME NOTES
We travelled to Cinderford last Saturday for our annual day out, hoping not to repeat last season's disastrous result. We were unfortunate not to have at least got a share of the points but the team played their best football for many weeks with Alan Lloyd and Brian Jordan dominant in midfield. What chances came to us were marred by the heavy pitch and poor finishing. Ten minutes from the end bad marking by our defence let in the home side giving them both points scrambling the ball over the line. Manager Holder's comments after the game, "It's all very well playing pretty football and having 75% of the play but at the end of the day it is all about winning, and as the result has shown we came home with nothing for this performance. This result however keeps us in a mid table position."

Departures
Micky Calvert, former manager (????) left the club two weeks ago to resume playing for Knowle and we wish him success with his new club. Lee Jenkins. Manager Colin Holder was disappointed at losing Lee's services but knew that it would be a matter of time before he resumed playing full time. Lee was playing for Aston Villa two seasons ago and gained an England Youth Cap. Lee has signed for a Finnish Club as a full time professional and has flown out this morning but before departing he telephoned to wish the lads "All The Best".

New Signings
Alan Lloyd - Vastly experienced midfield player that Manager Colin Holder hopes will benefit the side. He had four seasons at Bromsgrove before moving to Moor Green his previous club.
Kirk Jennings - Kirk has had experience with Lockheed Leamington and Tamworth but has somehow never advanced any higher although he has shown that he has the potential. Manager Holder has great admiration for an out and out winger and has high respect for Kirk who fills this description.
Mark Caufield - Mark is the son of Eddie Caufield the boss of Paget Rangers. He is only a young lad and in the few games that he has played in the First Team he has fitted in well. We hope that Mark will continue to progress as he has the potential to become a useful acquisition for Coleshill Town.
Mark Civil - Mark is a young goalkeeper who has been playing for Hamstead Social in the Birmingham Festival League. He has had experience with Darleston, Gornal and Halesowen. He is brave and forceful keeper and in the two games he has played for the Reserves they have won both and therefore the results speak for themselves.

N.B. Lee Jenkins possible ex-pro, Hall Of Fame.
