TAMWORTH (Coleshill) HERALD
Form Worry For Premier High Fliers

Coleshill Town with Steve Polack, Dave Moore and Lamin Konteh all failing fitness tests before kick off, were a much changed side to the previous week but still managed to complete their sixth double of the season over Smethwick Highfield at Pack Meadow. On a bumpy pitch Coleshill endeavoured to play their good football and completely dominated the opening ten minutes, pinning the Smethwick team into their own half. In the 12th minute a through ball from Mathews saw Nez Kelly, who had outpaced the Smethwick defence, brought down by the full back in the area and the referee had little hesitation in awarding a penalty. Bob Dyer struck the spot kick directly at the keeper but followed up to snatch the rebound into the net. Civil in the Coleshill goal was rarely troubled as the Coleshill defence coped adequately with the few advances made by the visitors. Coleshill scored their second goal in the 20th minute when a cross from Nez Kelly was flicked on by Ashman to Abbey Kelly who found himself ten yards from goal and no defender near and calmly rounded the keeper to score his second goal for the club. (When was the first?) Coleshill came out in the second half intending to capitalise on their lead but were never able to pierce the Smethwick defence which were ten strong for the remainder of the game with the sole objective of keeping the scoreline to a minimum. This was a disappointing display from Coleshill after their recent form and must be improved on if they are to sustain their contention for the title.
