Saturday 1st February 2020
Bet Victor Southern League Division One Central
Berkhamsted 1 v 0 Coleshill Town
Scorer: Ryan Kinnane.
Attendance: 135.

Berko: Xavier Comas Leon, Daniel Akubuine, Daniel Murphy, Joshua Chamberlain, Ryan Kinnane, Stephen Hatch, Alex Witham, Oladimeji Olajubu, Lewis Toomey, Jonathan Lacy, William Summerfield. Subs Matt Cooper, Oran Swales, Jack Wood, Erin Amy.

Colemen: Paul Hathaway, Nyeko Sinclair (Edilson Panzo-Antonio), Amarvir Sandhu, Matt Jackson, Joe Cole, Josh Webb, Liam Molesworth, Joe Halsall (Lewis Rankin), Zayn Hakeem (Ethan Mannion), George Washbourne, Jordan Francis. Sub not used Jerome Clarke.

Another defeat and a fourth game without scoring but with the return of George Washbourne, Joe Cole, Amarvir Sandu and a debut for striker Zayn Hakeem, Coleshill looked more like the side who had beaten title favourites Corby Town. Berkhamsted are currently second in the table and are almost certain to achieve at least a play off spot but Coleshill gave them a real game with the Colemen unlucky not to get some points.

BIG WIN: Berkhamsted dig deep to beat Coleshill Town
Berkhamsted extended their winning streak to seven games in a row this afternoon (February 1), beating Coleshill Town 1-0 at Broadwater.

After beating Wantage Town 6-0 last weekend, The Comrades proved that they can also dig deep for a victory after surviving a scare from this weekend’s visitors.

Ryan Kinnane got the only goal of the game in the first half, putting his side a goal ahead after half an hour.

Coleshill were awarded a penalty midway through the second half, but the effort was saved brilliantly by Xavi Comas Leon.

The Comrades held on in the end to take all three points, meaning they stay second in the table.

The push for promotion continues after Berkhamsted’s spectacular form since the start of the new year.

Berko kept up the pressure on the leaders with a single goal win at windy Broadwater on Saturday.
Report by Grant Hastie
With Erin Amu stuck in traffic, ex Hayes & Yeading Oladimeji Olajubu made his debut, starting in midfield for the home side, as the only change to the line-up.
Lewis Toomey and Jonathan Lacey made some good openings in the early stages but Coleshill managed to shut them out. What proved to be the winning goal came around the half hour mark. A corner was not cleared and came to Ryan Kinnane (pictured) on the edge of the area and he shot just inside Paul Hathaway’s post at the railway end for his 5th goal of the season. Xavi Comas Leon pulled off a fine save from a rare Coleshill first half attack. Lacey and Toomey combined to set up a chance for Will Summerfield but he shot over the bar.

In the second half Coleshill were on top most of the time. Substitute Lewis Rankin shot wide of the post but next time he went forward he went down to earn a soft looking penalty. Liam Molesworth hit the spot kick hard just inside the post but Xavi dived brilliantly to save it and keep a clean sheet for the Comrades, to bring the biggest cheer of the afternoon.

Amaruir Sandhu kept dribbling forward to create chances but the visitors were unable to get the leveller. Berko used three substitutes to try and freshen the game up. Amu came on and added some urgency to the midfield. Another of them, Lee Stobbs went close for Berko at the canal end, when he cut in from the wing and fired in a fierce shot.

Berko’s fifth consecutive win left them in second place, a point behind leaders Corby Town with the advantage of a game in hand, after the Steelmen dropped two points in a 1-1 draw on Saturday. Halesowen Town lie third with three games in hand on Berko and are only three points behind. That trio seem to have got away from the pack.
