COLESHILL POST WROTE
Corby are one of the title favourites and will definitely be in the top four come the end of the season but Coleshill matched them for long periods of this game. The only goal of the game was a cracker from experienced Corby striker Steve Diggen who had previously scored 100 goals at this level. Coleshill were always in the game but Josh Willis was harshly shown a Red card and Corby cleverly closed the game down.
MATCH REPORT
A tough couple of games for Coleshill to try and kick start their season. Their first Home game comes against a top 4 team from last season and definitely among the title favourites this season. Followed by a trip to Berkhamsted who finished top of the tree when the season came to an early end.
Coleshill are still missing a few of their super stars but newcomer Harry Higginson, ex Kidderminster Harriers, made his debut in defence.
It was a very close affair in the first half as the two sides cancelled each other out. From a Taylor Byrne long throw the ball fell to Danny Dubidat in the six yard box but the ball came off his shin and the chance had gone. Corby almost scored from a corner but Coleshill managed to clear at the third attempt. From that corner Coleshill broke quickly through Kai Tonge and he laid the ball into the path of Gio Dainty whose left foot shot brought out a fabulous save from Corby keeper Hill. Sam McLintock made a great dribbling run along the 18 yard line but his shot was wayward. A patient build up found McLintock in the box but his cross was easily picked out by Hill. They had been nothing between the sides but on 35 minutes a clearance by Shay Palmer was headed straight back into the space he had left which found Diggin who turned and shot in one movement and his a corker over Paul Hathaway and into the net. Sandy had a chance in the dying seconds of the half as a high deep cross found him at the far post but his effort hit the side netting.
Half Time Coleshill 0 v 1 Corby
A short free kick from Josh Webb found Sam McLintock in the box but his bending shot went wide of the far post. Kai Tonge's pace got him clear down the right and into the box. As the keeper came out to meet him he went for goal but Hill flapped the ball away and it wouldn't fall for the supporting Colemen. Town had a corner which was passed to Sam McLintock wide right and his left foot shot beat the visiting keeper but hit the bar and went over. Corby's experience was starting to tell as they kept possession for long periods, killing the game. One move took them fully across the field and when the cross finally came in it was only inches in front of forward Sandy. Frustration at not seeing much of the ball contributed in Josh Willis being shown a Red card. He clearly fouled his marker but whether he stamped on the lad while he was on the ground or just stepped over him is up for debate but when the whole of the Corby team screamed and surrounded the referee, the official had little choice. Another uphill task but Coleshill kept pegging away. Josh Webb sent in a free kick that Hill held well. Westwood had a shot saved by Hathaway. A fine cross field ball from McLintock found Kai Tonge who again sped past his marker but his shot from just inside the box went well over the bar. Crawford squirmed his way into the box and he flicked the ball past Hathaway but Taylor Bryne was on hand to clear off the line. Tonge was Coleshill's best chance of getting anything from the game and again he left his marker in his wake and this time his fine cross was tipped away diving at full length by Hill with Ethan Mannion lurking for a tap in.
A defeat but a spirited performance by Coleshill and when they get a few players back from injuries and suspensions they will be a force to be reckoned with.

STEELMEN UP AND RUNNING IN LEAGUE
Corby Town showed great resilience to pick up their first three points of the league season at Coleshill Town on Monday 28th September. Not only was this the Steelmen's second fixture in three days but it was also a game played on a 3G surface in heavy rain beneath floodlights which left something to be desired.
Corby also went into the game without injured duo Joel Carta and Jordan O'Brien and with Ollie Gee making his competitive debut in midfield. The Steelmen also featured Codan Duncan, who played half-a-dozen games on loan from Tamworth a year ago, among their substitutes.
The only goal of the game came in the 35th minute when an attempted Coleshill clearance was headed back towards goal by Jordon Crawford and Steve Diggin struck a volley high into the net from the edge of the penalty area for his 101st goal for the club.
Coleshill played their part in an even encounter with Gio Dainty having a shot well saved by Craig Hill and Sam McLintock firing efforts off target either side of half time. The home side also struck the crossbar in the second half before being reduced to ten men. Josh Willis bundled Crawford over and then appeared to stamp on the prone Corby forward to earn a straight red card.
