CASTLE BROMWICH NEWS WROTE
Confident Coleshill Revival

Coleshill continued their revival in the Midland Combination First Division with a convincing victory over Boldmere, at Pack Meadow and they have now taken six points from their last four games. As in many games this season Johnny Allcock created plenty of problems for the opposing defence and he capped a great display by scoring the first goal and paving the way for two more. John Newey excelled in Coleshill's back four. It was Coleshill all the way in the opening stages and within three minutes Boldmere's keeper Brookes fumbled a shot from Allcock, after he had run into a smart through ball from Roy Phelps. Brookes then dived at Allcock's feet to prevent a certain goal and seconds later the giant keeper held a cross by Canning under the bar. Rossi brough Boldmere into the attack and tested King with a first time shot, but in the 23rd minute Coleshill jumped ahead when Allcock fastened on to a loose ball from a corner taken by Hanlon, to score from close range. Spencer began to make several promising runs from the back for Boldmere and Langford missed a chance to equalise. Back at the other end Brookes again saved from Allcock. More heavy pressure from Coleshill was rewarded in the 44th minute, when a low cross from Allcock was deflected into his own net by Brookes. Boldmere began the second half showing more determination and a shot from Whillock rebounded off the post, for Langford to score. For the next 15 minutes Boldmere forced Coleshill to back peddle and Newey and Nabbs seemed to be the only home players to keep their composure during this hectic period. Boldmere failed to press home their terrirorial advantage and in the 64th minute Coleshill's Nabbs began the fight back. In a positive run from midfield he evaded three tackles and saw his final shot turned behind for a corner. This signalled a Coleshill onslaught, which saw shots from Canning, and Allcock go inches wide. Coleshill's new found superiority was sealed in the 84th minute when challenging play by Roy and Malcolm Phelps led tp Allcock knocking a ball inside to Canning, who from 25 yards looked up and slammed home a dream of a shot past the stranded Brookes. A minute later a cross from Nabbs was touched on by MacDonald and Malcolm Phelps made no mistake to hit in goal number four. A fifth almost came Coleshill's way, but Allcock's volley from a pass by Roy Phelps, flashed the wrong side of the post. This performance must hold Coleshill in good stead for the visit to leaders West Midlands Police this Saturday.
